QUARTERBACK OF THE WEEK #6 Amir Hall, Bowie State (Jr, QB – Bowie, MD) In just over three quarters of play, Hall threw for a game-high 329 yards, completing 22-of-32 passes (two interceptions) and threw four touchdowns in Bowie State’s 64-31 road win at Fayetteville State. Hall also rushed for one touchdown. |

RECEIVER OF THE WEEK #21 Jewison Dawkins, Virginia Union (Jr, WR – Fort Lauderdale, FL) Dawkins caught four passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns in VUU’s 28-7 win over Saint Augustine’s. Dawkins also hauled in a 60-yard bomb for a score in the first quarter. Dawkins’ average of 34 yards per catch is the highest average gain per reception for a Panther football player since Michael Hampton’s school-record 45.8 yards per catch against Tuskegee in 2007.

OFFENSIVE BACK OF THE WEEK #2 Robert Chesson, Bowie St. (Sr, RB – Annapolis, MD) Chesson carried the ball 15 times on Saturday at Fayetteville State, rushing for a personal season-high 172 yards and scored two touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 64-31 win. He averaged 11.5 yards per carry against the Broncos.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK #1 Canard Brown, Winston-Salem (Sr., WR/KR/PR – Miami, FL) Canard Brown had an exceptional game versus Lincoln University. He opened the game with a kickoff return for a score, a 95 yard kickoff return for a touchdown on the first play of the game, and then he followed that up with a 72 yard punt return for a touchdown in the second quarter.

COACH OF THE WEEK Adrian Jones, Shaw University Under the leadership of head coach Adrian Jones, the Shaw University football team earned their first conference win on the season Saturday, Sept. 30 after defeating Elizabeth City State, 23-17. Shaw now stands 1-1 within the league and 2-3 overall.
