By Gary Norris Gray STAFF REPORTER
As we move into the National Football League’s third season of civil rights protest. Black players on many teams are kneeling or raising their fist, again, when our National Anthem is being played. These current players want America to have a conversation about race in the United States, a conversation America continues to run away from. The players also want a conversation about our lack of concern when our veterans return from service with no assistance.
Our current President once again targets these same players with vile rhetoric that proves that he is truly a racist and wants African-American males to be subservient to him and the dominant White American culture.
Black and white fans do not watch the NFL for very different reasons and the league has to fix this problem. Colin Kaepernick could not have said it better, ” You don’t watch The NFL for the anthem so if you don’t like the kneeling just ignore it like you do racism and police brutality.”
The poem ‘TOO BLACK,’ will be dedicated to the following football stars
