The United States is currently in political crisis with the impeachment trial of President Donald J. Trump. This is not about right or left, it is about being correct or incorrect. It is about being a human being who cares for others. The contrast between the last two Presidents is glaring.

This country is walking down the path to hell with its present leader in Washington D.C. This country currently has a President that cannot or will not lead morally or socially for justice and equality. He is very different and a complete contrast to the previous occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Former President Obama was loved by most Americans; he cared for the sick, admired and embraced the disabled. The former President and the First Lady stood side by side with the military; President Obama respected and honored women. America loved this President because he could play sports and communicated with the common American.

President Donald J. Trump has shown the other side of politics with little or no remorse. Mr. Trump states that he can grab women by their genitals because he can, Trump is a shameful disgusting man and is merely tolerated because he is the President of the most powerful country in the world.

Mr. Trump has attacked a courageous teenager defending the world on the issue of Global Warming. He blasted the young woman, Greta Thunberg, from Sweden for caring about the future of the planet. This is the leadership of our nation.

This current leader makes some Americans sick to their stomachs because he lacks the ability to respect anybody and he just does not care. The 45th President of the United States makes fun of individuals he does not like, cannot control, or cannot assist him in his quest for power.

He demoralizes and criticizes those who were captured or got injured in any war instead of granting them the praise for their service, this man gets deferments from the Vietnam War because of his physical injuries, his political, social, and economic ties. This is privilege staring us in the face and not many in the American press corp. has brought it up.

Meanwhile, he criticizes the state of California for the mounting numbers of homeless residents but offers no solutions to the problem. This is the new form of government from Washington, D.C. Remember Republicans love states rights when it favors them.

President Obama would have created a committee to study the problem and give California some suggestions. It will not happen from Donald J. Trump just because the state has a democratic governor, this is how petty this man is and it is hurting the United States.

President Trump has a cabinet of twenty white men, two women, one African American, and one Asian American. This flies in the face of American diversity, flies in the face of our countries strength.

African American, senior writer, and research fellow for Shareblue media, Mr. Oliver Willis noted “President Barack Obama went through one of the toughest presidencies of modern American history. Willis noted that this president was attacked with racist statements, the public smearing of his wife and kids, calling his wife an animal, demanding his birth certificate, and questioning his faith.” None of these issues were raised with the current resident of the White House.

The question should be asked, Why? Or why not? Does President Donald J. Trump get a pass because he is Caucasian? Does he get a pass because he is one of the “Good Old Boys?”

President Obama rose above the standard while President Trump took the standard down and there is no standard.

“Not once did President Obama stoop to the level of screaming expletives and accusing the opposition party of treason, not a single day in eight years.” Not once did President Obama rail against the men who publicly stated they were going to make him a one term president in the second week of his presidency in 2008.

Not once did President Obama attack the press while Mr. Trump accuses them of being traitors and the enemy of the American people.

In President Obama’s first speech to the government Congressmen Joe Wilson of South Carolina yelled “You lie” in the middle of the speech. That had not happened in 70 years and that person was escorted out of the congressional joint session by the sergeant of arms.

President Obama looked in Wilson’s direction but again did not say a word. The President returned to his speech and everything returned to normal so it seemed. Respect for the man and the office was lost that night.

The (GOP) Grand Old Party is becoming just that grand, old, white, and male, all at the same time. The Republican Party is currently marching lock step to a man that is not making sense. They are marching to a man that has thrown away all logic.

A man that currently has an all White intern staff and very proud of it. A man that belittles his opponents at every chance he gets like an eight year old child calling them names. This man befriends dictators and despots calling them good people.

He also befriends white nationalist and Ku Klux Klan leaders, also calling them good people. This is our current leader. If you don’t agree with him he will turn on you and tweet you into oblivion.

This man from New York City has lowered the standard of the office, he has lowered the standard of the officer who holds this powerful office and he has lowered the standard for citizens around the world in respecting the United States of America.

President Trump can throw up the white power sign over and over again in his speeches and nobody says a word, now think if President Obama had put up his fist in the Black Power salute in one of his speeches the country would have lost their collective minds. This is where we are racially and politically in the United States.

Just imagine if President Barack Obama had replicated half of the diversions that Donald J. Trump has brought forth, America would be hysterical. America would have wanted President Obama impeached.

Mr. Obama was and still is the ultimate political gentleman while Donald J. Trump is a political brute and bully.  America has a decision to make in November.

We have truly become the ugly American and a certain segment of Americans are proud of it. They wear it as a badge of courage.

Our next challenge for our great nation will be to make America a great country that will include everybody that welcomes everybody and benefits from being different and unique.

Do we want to be in the image of Donald J. Trump or the image of Barack Obama? The choice is ours.
