CAN YOU FEEL IT?

By Gary Norris Gray, Staff Reporter

As the Jackson Five sang many years ago, “Can you feel it?” they sang about the world coming together. Instead this world is falling apart under the current leadership in Washington D.C.

Where is the empathy? Where is the sorrow or the grief?

Can You Feel It?

The Jackson 5

If you look around
The whole world is coming together now

Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it
Feel it in the air, the wind is taking it everywhere
Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it
All the colors of the world should be
Lovin’ each other wholeheartedly
Yes, it’s all right
Take my message to your brother and tell him twice
Spread the word and try to teach the man
Who’s hating his brother, when hate won’t do
When we’re all the same, ’cause the blood inside me is inside you

Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it
Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it

Sing out loud
Because we want to make a crowd
Touch a hand and sing a sound so pure, salvation rings

Can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it
Can you feel…

One cannot believe what is happening across this great nation and its leadership in Washington D.C. Sixty thousand Americans have died in the past three months due to a viral infection, a viral invasion.

This virus is claiming the lives of young and old, Black and white, disabled and non-disabled. That is a huge medical problem but the emotional response by our current leaders, troubling. The EMPATHY is absent stating that we must get back to work we must built the economy, that is his answer.

Past Presidents have shown their emotions and empathy in tragic events or deaths. President Franklin D. Roosevelt after the Normandy Invasion in World War II, thousands of Americans died in 24 hours in 1944, President Harry Truman expressed sorrow after President Roosevelt’s death, mourning the death of America’s leader in 1945.

Then Vice President Lyndon Johnson also expressed sorrow after President Kennedy’s death in Dallas, again mourning the death of the country’s leader in 1963. President Clinton and the Oklahoma City Bombings in 1995 rocked the nation, President George Bush after the 9-11 attacks in 2001, three thousand Americans died in 24 hours after airplanes crashed into buildings.

In 2005, Hurricane Katrina accounted for almost two thousand American death’s in two days as Mother Nature attacked the American coastline. President Obama also had his share of tragic moments with the H1N1 Swine Flu 2009 and the civil unrest. The now famous funeral service in South Carolina reviled to the nation heartfelt condolences and empathy to the slain families members.

This current President feels nothing and lashes out at people who question his feelings..Sixty thousand Americans have died horrible deaths the past three months and now he wants all of us to go back to work with the chance of dying for rich peoples profits and corporate companies.

He is stating this under the guise of maintaining the food chain and a struggling economy. What is troubling he continues to show no emotion? He has learned nothing from the impeachment trails about humility and grace.

He has shown no remorse for the dead, instead having military jet planes fly over New York and Northern New Jersey by the Navy’s Blue Angels and the Air Force’s Thunderbirds in salute to the First Responders, wasting gas and taxpayers’ money.

He shows no remorse or regret of the American lives lost during this pandemic. It’s just part of business as usual and we must get that back in order, meaning get up in the morning and start your job. REALLY?

Hundreds of meatpackers now have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus this past week, twenty nine have passed away and these meat packers are expected to continue work.

His example of caring is throwing paper towels to residents of Puerto Rico at the relief center and then have a verbal food fight with the Mayor of San Juan Carmen Yulin Cruz after Hurricane Maria in 2017.

The resistance to testing from this administration finally was forced by state officials, the delay in getting protection to the nurses, doctors, police officers, and emergency responders again forced by state officials and then after all of that going back to his usual modus operandi, throwing out the race card attacking China, the Chinese government, and people of Asian descent by calling Covid-19 The Chinese Virus ramping up Xenophobia.

We must change, can you feel it, can you feel it, can you feel it?

Conclusion, it is traumatic to lose any human being, it feels like Americans are being robbed of their humanity with the loses of these sixty thousand American soles and American dreams by shire administration negligence. America is being robbed of individuals that made this country a better place.  The people in Washington could care less just get the economy going … We, The United States of America might have to do some soul searching after this national tragedy in 2020.
