Athletes from all over the world gave support to the George Floyd family in their time of need. From tennis star, Naomi Osaka-Japan, to basketball All Star LaBron James-Los Angeles Lakers and other NBA superstars, the majority of women in the WNBA and the European National Soccer Leagues. It is time for a dramatic shift in domestic policing policies and for those who continue to state that they don’t want politics in their sports it’s too late.

What happened in Berlin in 1936?

What happened in Mexico City 1968?

What happened in Munich in 1972?

What happened in Moscow in 1980?

How about Muhammad Ali being stripped of his heavyweight championship title?

Not political, right?

These famous sports icons wanted to see truth and justice; they wanted to see what America was truly made of. They were all waiting to witness this new reality, if Black Lives truly mattered in The United States. The three guilty verdicts for Derek Chauvin would not have happened without the support of these high profile sports figures speaking up or speaking out.

This weekend African Americans should be jumping up and down with happiness for a big political victory, we are not, we should be pleased by the results we are not. It is just a feeling of relief. The group feelings of ratcheting down the emotion of depression and fear of another unnecessary death and destruction of a human being, a feeling of when this will it happen again because it will. How many more times a Black family will mourn the death of a loved one? Question, Does America really care, the answer African Americans are getting back is no.

In the 400 plus years of African American History the country throws out a cookie to quiet the protesting Black masses. This is one of those times. This is the cookie so people will not burn down businesses; burn down the inner cities that generate that big revenue.

The glaring undeniable message that the American economy was more important than BLACK LIVES. This cookie was to save the failing economy or what’s left of a flailing economy.

The three guilty verdicts of Derek Chauvin is that sweet cookie to appease the Black masses SEE WE FINALLY DID SOMETHING FOR YOU GUYS, WE JAILED Derek Chauvin, but ladies and gentlemen the problem goes deeper. Mr. Chauvin really believed that he would get away with the murder of George Floyd because he was wearing the blue uniform and a badge.

This individual was a person in authority, nobody should challenge me. Mr. Chauvin had no respect for human life because this was his second report of roughing up a suspect in his care. Officer Chauvin was called to a domestic dispute in 2017 between a mother and a son. The officer sat on a teenager’s back for 17 minutes with the male child stating that he could not breathe. Sound familiar? Even the (WWF) World Wrestling Federation banned this lethal containment move because of the dangerous health hazard. The cookie was being passed to quiet the masses with the guilty verdict.

Racism has got its hook on America and Mr. Chauvin just knew that he would retire and leave without paying a price. He would get his pension and everybody would forget about him years later. WRONG!!!!

It did not happen that way. That brave 17 year old young woman, Darnella Frazier should be commended for filming the incident with her cell phone. Mr. Chauvin would most likely be still patrolling the streets of Minneapolis today if it were not for Ms. Frazier’s courage. That horrible image will be stuck in most Americans mind because they were staying indoors due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

So sad just so sad…now people will say see what happened in Minneapolis, Minnesota.. Yes, thousands of buildings being boarded up Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday in the Bay Area before the end of the trial.

If America did the right thing in the first place we would not be here today, scared to death protecting our property instead of protecting PEOPLE, Money is more important than lives, this is what you are telling our children, this is what you are telling African Americans, at least that’s what the last President of the United States indicated.

America, now you have to show Black people more. No more Mackie Bryant, Andrew Brown-40, Matthew Williams-35, Marvin D. Scott III-26, Kurt Reiknhold-42 and McHale Rose-19 the list keeps growing day by day, week by week, year by year, and is endless, we still have work to do… One hundred and forty eight Black men and women are no longer with us on this planet earth because of police violence since 2018.

Sandra Bland did not survive because she was not protected after her questionable arrest in Texas.

Breonna Taylor who worked for the Louisville civil service department was shot in her home doing nothing. A police drug raid gone wrong.

Oscar Grant could not celebrate the New Year on a BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) platform. The police removed the Black males from the car not the white males in the altercation.

Andrew Brown shot by a North Carolina deputy while being served a warrant. Brown was driving running away from the police.

Tamir Rice was twelve years old, outside to play on a clear winter day with his new toy gun. Rice never returned home. Cleveland, Ohio police officer Timothy Loehmann shot him in three seconds upon arriving at the scene.

Eric Garner wanted to make some extra money selling loose cigarettes and was brought down to the ground by five officers and choke to death.

Freddie Gray died of a broken neck riding in the back of a Baltimore police department van. Gray pleaded for help but was ignored until the van arrived at the district police station.

Daunte Wright was shot by mistake as the officer thought it was her Taser instead it was her Gluck Nine that fired the lethal blow

The list continues with Michael Dean, Michael Brown, and Philando Castile on and on.

So America when does this end when will you change police training skills or do we have to defund the police department and start all over again.

Ex Green Bay, Minnesota, New York Jet quarterback Brett Favre seems to be on crusade to save Derek Chauvin, stating that he did not believe the officer meant to kill George Floyd, really, after putting his knee on his neck for nine minutes, come on, Brett, come on. Mr. Favre believes that this incident was not a racist act. If you believe that then Santa Claus is alive and well in the middle of summer in the North Pole. Carolina Panther wide receiver Steve Smith took Brett to task blasting Favre remarks as racist. Mr. Favre has yet to comment. Nobody else has come to number four’s defense.

Then you have wise guys or girls spray painting over the George Floyd mural in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota with bright red paint, the words “N***ers Lives Don’t Matter,” and this is the mind set of 40 % of the population of the United States, which is very troubling. Mr. Trump made racism fashionable again and not afraid to show it.

It is time for a change in the United States when white law breakers live to tell their stories; Black violators die for the same crime…Dillon Roof kills nine people in a Black church and the arresting police officers take him to Burger King because he was hungry. This is the hypocrisy of the United States and African Americans are getting tired of it.

This has to change if we are going to move forward in this great land. We all thought we were moving forward with our first known Black President, Barack Obama taking the White House in 2008. But it all came crashing down with the election of Donald J. Trump in 2016. America returned to its natural nasty racial self.

This is a long way from Rodney King and Simi Valley. A long way from, “Can we all get along.” A long way from don’t believe what your lying eyes just witnessed. A long way from if Mr. King did not move, did not struggle the officers would not hit him. If you believe this then you are part of the problem too.

America we can be better we have to be better. Let us be the generation to end this racial hypocrisy in the United States.
