Power Rankings: Big East Men’s Hoops

By Richard Kent, Staff Reporter

Through Monday’s games

1. Villanova (6-2): They have Jay Wright and Collin Gillespie and a strong supporting cast. The 2 losses were on the road to UCLA and against no. 1 Purdue. NCAA

2. Seton Hall (7-1): Maybe the best Kevin Willard Seton Hall team. Great win over Michigan. Jared Rhoden is playing at a very high level. NCAA.

3.Xavier (7-1): How about that road win over Oklahoma State. And without  Zach Freemantle who is not close to 100%. NCAA

3. UConn (8-1): They beat Auburn. That and how well they have gelled says it all. NCAA

5. Marquette (7-2): Really solid win over a strong Illinois team. NCAA

6. Creighton (7-2): They won at Nebraska and they can score.NIT

7. St. John’s (6-2): Still a work in progress with some new pieces, but Julian Champagnie can be counted on night in and night out. NCAA

8. DePaul (6-1): They did beat a disappointing Rutgers at home. Tony Stubblefield has done a great job to date and Javon Freeman-Liberty has been a stud. NIT

9. Butler (5-3): Decent, but not ready for prime time.

10. Georgetown (3-4): The Ewing mistake continues. He may get fired at the end of the season.
