FLUSHING, NY — Fans of the Williams sisters got some great news as Serena and Venus Williams received a wild card into the US Open women’s doubles and will compete together one last time.
The pair have had an incredible doubles career. They have an overall record of 192-34 and a record of 125-14 in Grand Slam doubles events. More staggeringly, they have a 14-0 record in Grand Slam doubles finals.
They’ve won Olympic Gold Medals together in 2000, 2008 and 2012.
They last won a Grand Slam at Wimbledon in 2016.
The sisters have won 2 previous US Open doubles titles in 1999 and 2009.
Their first-round match will take place on Thursday against the doubles team of Hradecka-Noskova.
For US Open fans hoping to see Serena one more time, they will still have opportunities both in the singles and doubles draws.
