Octavia E. Butler could not have said it better and the United States of America is currently walking down the path of political darkness. In November Americans will be electing officials all over the country. Whether they be right wing or left wing they had better be the right person for the job in November because it will change this country’s history forever.
Americans need to seek the truth, Americans want to know the truth, Americans have to have the truth to make the right decisions in November. The battle is clear in the states of Georgia and Pennsylvania. The battle is on for women’s rights. The battle is on for voting rights. The battle is on for disabled freedom.
“Choose your leaders with wisdom and forethought.
To be led by a coward is to be controlled by all that the coward fears.
To be led by a fool is to be led by an opportunist who controls the fool.
To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasures to be stolen.
To be led by a liar is to ask to be told lies.
To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery.”
Ms. Butler did not want to be pigeon holed into one genre and proved it with her many published books. She worried about the direction of this country before her untimely passing in 2006. She made this glairing comment before the ascension to the White House of Barack Obama or Donald J. Trump, but she was not mistaken about this country’s political future. It could be described as a cruise ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean with a massive hurricane rocking the boat, making everyone sea sick and wanting off the ship.
This mid-team election will be the reflection of the political state of mind of your country. We have four or five people that are still defending the January 6 uprising in Washington running for public office. We have four or five more individuals that are still denying the results of the 2020 elections.
In the past four years rights of certain Americans have been taken away, repealed, or restricted with more restrictions promised in the future. The state of our democracy is in peril and many don’t even know it or care.
Our greatest or one of our greatest presidents saved the union 160 years ago. A Republican, our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln, unified the north to victory and tried to rein in the rebellious southern states. Mr. Lincoln had to repair a fractured nation.
This amazing country is currently at that point again. Election deniers are running for offices in the House of Representatives, the Senate of the United States, the governorships of different states and mayors of many cities, as well county offices. Even the person who started this political mess would be able to run again for the presidency of the United States in 2024.
The intent of the group of men and women on January 6 was to storm the Capitol and stop the congressional certification of the presidential election. The sitting President then would have declared martial law, arrested all the Americans that politically opposed him and assumed the presidency for life. This is not the American way.
In 1861, the southern states of America created the (CSA) Confederate States of America defying President Lincoln and created two America’s it is happening all over again.
DON’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!
Has become the new political and social mantra from Covid 19 and Flu vaccinations, to creating a family, to whom another person loves. Just as Southern States told President Lincoln, “Leave us alone; we can run our government the way we see fit,” Today Americans are telling the Government, “Leave us alone, we know how to run our lives,” even if some of their actions hurt or kill other Americans. ME comes first, becoming the chant of the day.
Election deniers do not like democracy because it exposes the un-truth’s they have been spinning for eight months and continues to divide this nation, just like the Southern States in 1861, wanting state’s rights and slavery. The Southern States did not want to be told what to do and how to do it. It is repeating itself today with Mr. Trump’s election deniers.
These individuals should not and cannot hold any office because they then become a clear threat to democracy and freedom, that very freedom that my father, Corporal George Thomas Gray fought for in World War II.
VOTE IN NOVEMBER. Vote for freedom, justice, liberty, and democracy.
Listen to the powerful words of Octavia E. Butler.
